Review Policy
Here at Start Being Your Best, I review products from time to time. There are some interesting scenarios at work here, and rather than type them all in to every review I do, I thought I’d just list them here so I can link to them. Much easier for me, and you don’t have to plow through them every time.
AFFILIATE LINKS
Affiliate links are links to products that I discuss on this site, for which I will receive a commission if you purchase after having followed my link. “How much?” you ask. Well, that varies, depending on the program, the product, etc. I can’t give you a firm figure, but it’s pretty much pizza money, not “remodel Jason’s house” money. This blog isn’t even close to generating a break even cash flow, and there are (many) more months where I don’t make any money than months where I do. As of the date of this writing, my biggest income month from Start Being Your Best is $23.50.
If there’s a link on this site to a product, you can safe in assuming I’ll put an affiliate link in there if I have an affiliate relationship with the site I link to. If I don’t have a relationship where I get a commission, I’ll still link it (see the “How to be Rich and Happy” banner on the right-hand side of the page).
So, I’m not plugging products to get rich. If you buy something, thanks! If not, it’s not a big deal.
REVIEW COPIES
As of the writing of this, I participate in a program from Thomas Nelson Publishers (booksneeze.com) that provides free copies of books in exchange for a review on my site and on one retail website (Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc.). I am under NO compulsion to post a positive review, however, and I am not directly compensated in any other way from these reviews.
If I find more programs like this and participate in them in the future, I’ll update this page with the details.
MY PERSONAL FEELINGS ABOUT REVIEWS
I’m not going to review anything on this site that I don’t recommend, unless it falls under the “Review Copies” section noted above. And, if I’m compelled to write a review, understand that if I don’t like it, I’ll state so unequivocally. I’m not going to steer you wrong for the sake of making a buck (actually, a quarter or two). I really want to add value to my reader’s lives, and won’t shill anything that I haven’t tried personally and have found valuable.
If you have any concerns about this policy, please feel free to drop me a line at jason [at] startbeingyourbest [dot] com (or just hit the “Contact Jason” button at the top of the screen).
